Colorado Aquaponics is excited to announce that our partners at the GrowHaus have received a grant from Kaiser Permanente to build a new aquaponics system based upon the plans and budget we drew up for a small system that doubles as a community bench. This system is largely based on similar systems constructed by Australian aquaponics guru, Murray Hallam.
It is a flood and drain system utilizing a single water pump and auto syphons in the grow beds to provide efficient and effective nutrient delivery to the plant roots.
The system will also incorporate a waste heat capture technique that will allow for hot air in the greenhouse to be used for heating the underside of the tank thus providing an alternative heating source to help maintain the temperature of the tank water.
